Born in Oakland, California in 1952, Amy Tan is a profound Chinese American author. Some of her most popular novels consist of The Joy Luck Club where the short story Two Kinds came from, The Kitchen God's Wife, and The Bonesetter's Daughter. Tan's first piece of literature was a 26-Chapter Booklet called: Telecommunication and You. Her first story is entitled Endgame and it appeared in FM Literary Magazine. Tan's own life story is inspiration for the short story Two Kinds. Growing up, her mother wanted her to study Pre-med in college, but instead Amy followed her heart and study English and Linguistics.
